Yaumati Ferry Service.

We have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your letter

of to-day,

In view of the Government's determination to put the

ferry service up to public tender, we are instructed to

address the Secretary of State on the subject.

We shall be glad to know that the second reading of the

Bill will not be proceeded with until we have been enabled to communicate with the Secretary of State and received a reply. We will forward our letter to the Secretary of State

as soon as possible.
